“I already set the teakettle on heat.”
After sparring with SpaceX and NASA, looks like the director-general of Russian state space corporation Roscosmos is trying to make amends or maybe it’s all part of one of his plans?
Dmitry Rogozin has been trying to get on the good side of the space billionaire enthusiasts and has even send a personal invitation to SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk to right his wrongs. In an interview with CNN, the director general told how he invited Musk to his home “to be a guest of my family” and have fun discussions on the topic of “exploring the universe, extraterrestrial life and how we can use space to preserve life on Earth.” Now how can Musk say no to that?
Rogozin’s sudden change in stance comes at a very peculiar time as Russia has been actively isolating itself from the international space community and cutting ties with them. It wasn’t long ago that Musk roasted the Russian Space Program and Rogozin, claiming it as an “inside joke” while the two bickered back and forth for a while. After the CNN interview, it looks like those roasting days are behind them as Rogozin even stated how he respects Musk and said, “Mr. Elon Musk realizes many of the ideas and thoughts that we wanted to realize, but did not get to because, after the breakup of the Soviet Union, our space program halted for some time. We respect him as an organizer of the space industry and as an inventor, who is not afraid to take risk.”
It sure seems like the start of a new beginning where Rogozin and Musk could be seen having tea parties together and discussing the future of space travel. Rogozin even sent an open invite to Musk on Twitter and wrote “Come! We are waiting for you.” Now it’s up to Musk whether he takes up on the offer or face the consequence of declining the Russians, haha just kidding…maybe.
