But Apple is prepping an iPhone SE refresh for 2025, and recent leaks have the new model being a game changer for budget conscious Apple lovers. A Samsung rumour out of Korea suggests the upcoming iPhone SE will come in at the cheap end of the scale with a $499 asking price, making it a cheaper option than the standard iPhone 16, which is $300 higher.
It further shores up the rumored upgrades, so while that implies a $70 increase over the 2022 iPhone SE’s starting price of $429, it’s still a strong offering. If Apple’s rumoured self-developed modem makes an appearance, that would make the new iPhone SE the first device to do so. The SE will, under the hood, use the A18 chipset with 8GB of RAM to support advanced AI driven features. According to design, the 2025 iPhone SE will be featuring the modern design of the iPhone 14 with 6.06 inch 60 Hz OLED screen and face ID sensors in the notch. On the camera front, it seems to arrive with a 48 MP main camera and a 12 MP selfie snapper, both of which are much greater than what you’d find with its predecessor.
The SE will have camera features lacking in the SE namely, an ultrawide and less bezel and a more bezel heavy design, but those tradeoffs might make it, well, more compelling considering the $300 price difference. The next iPhone SE offers the perfect balance of cutting edge technology, fresh design and low price that makes it appealing to anyone looking to take that first step into the Apple ecosystem without any of the sticker shock. If these rumors pan out, the budget smartphone will be flipped on its head by the 2025 iPhone SE.
