According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release iOS 18 with significant changes to the iPhone home screen. The updated version will include several AI-powered features and a higher level of customization.
In his most recent newsletter, Mark Gurman said that iOS 18 will allow users to rearrange the position and color of app icons on the home screen. iOS currently limits users to using app icons in a set grid layout. Gurman highlights this change: “Another fun improvement (unrelated to AI) will be the revamped iPhone home screen. That will let users change the color of app icons and put them wherever they want. For instance, you can make all your social icons blue or finance-related ones green — and they won’t need to be placed in the standard grid since day one in 2007.”
Besides allowing users to customize their home screen, iOS 18 is anticipated to bring several AI-powered features. These include voice memo transcription, picture editing, quicker Spotlight search, improved web search, smart replies, personalized emojis, smart recaps, and a more natural Siri. With the help of artificial intelligence, these technologies hope to enhance the iPhone’s general usability and functionality.
On June 10, 2024, during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple intends to release iOS 18. Users can download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS to receive thorough event coverage.
