The First Full-Scale HyperloopTT Passenger Capsule Is Here

hyperloopTT unveiled

The premiere of the world’s first Hyperloop Transporation Technologies (HyperloopTT) took place recently. The unveiling ceremony was carried out in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain. It was on the fifth anniversary of the day when the founding of the HyperloopTT was announced to the world. Dirk Ahlborn, the co-founder, and CEO of HyperloopTT said, “In just five years we have solved and improved upon all of the technology needed for Hyperloop with our new levitation system, vacuum pumps, batteries, and smart composites. This capsule will be a part of one of the most efficient transportation systems ever made.” The capsule is named Quintero One. It was built in Spain by artificial intelligence technology firm Airtificial.

The impressive aerodynamics of the capsule is made out of specially created dual-layer smart composite material. Rafael Contreras, Airtificial Co-founder, and Chairman said, “Working together with engineers from HyperloopTT, we are proud to be pushing the envelope of smart materials in transportation and manufacturing. Today we have unveiled a new type of transportation vessel built with a high industry percentage of the composite, which makes the Hyperloop capsule perhaps the safest vehicle in the world.”

The futuristic design of the pod was developed in collaboration with transport design consultancy PriestmanGoode and the Gold award recipient of the 2017 London Design Awards. Quintero One has a length of 32 meters which provides a substantial inner cabin length of 15 meters. It weighs 5000 kilograms and includes 82 carbon fiber panels, 72 sensors, 75000 rivets, and 7200 square meters of fiber. The capsule is now on its way to the research and development center of HyperloopTT in Toulouse France. The pod will further go through assembly and integration into the system before it can be used to carry the first real passengers in the coming year. Bibop Gresta, chairman and co-founder of HyperloopTT, said, “In 2019, this capsule will be fully optimized and ready for passengers. Since we have taken major steps in solving government regulations with our safety certification guidelines and insurance frameworks, we are now closer than ever to bringing Hyperloop to the world.”

Last month, HyperloopTT achieved another world’s first by being the only company which has an insurable commercial system. Ahlborn said, “We have proven the technology to be feasible at every level and through our work with these partners, stakeholders, and governments we are creating the safest, most secure system possible.”
