Grant Thompson was the man behind the famous and science-oriented YouTube Channel, The King of Random. He died on Monday in a paragliding crash in southern Utah according to the authorities. Jonathan Grant Thompson was 38 years old and was identified as the paraglider whose body was recovered close to the Sand Hollow State Park as per Washington County Sheriff Lt. Dave Crouse.
The King of Random YouTube channel has a huge following of fans. Authorities were alerted about a missing paraglider on Monday night after it was reported that the pilot took flight from the Dixie Springs subdivision close to the state park. As per the caller, the paraglider was overdue by an hour and was not answering his phone as well. Officers from the Hurricane Police Department and Bureau of Land Management responded to the area and relied on the last-known GPS coordinates of the man’s phone. It was volunteers with the sheriff’s search and rescue team that located the body of the King of Random.
Sheriff’s officials are still investigating the incident and reviewing the video from the paragliding equipment to ascertain what led the aircraft to crash. Thompson created the King of Random YouTube channel back in 2010. Along with this production team, he has made hundreds of videos that feature science experiments, life hacks, and other projects including how to open a coconut without making use of any tools and how to create gummy LEGOs. The channel has over 11 million subscribers and more than 2 billion views.
