BMW needs no introduction and neither does their X6 which, surprisingly enough, outsold every other model except the Z4. BMW is coming up with the next generation BMW X6 and aims to deliver more style to the user. In fact, one source told us that the X6’s shape has become; ‘iconic, like a Porsche 911.’ This one has a taller hood and its headlights resemble the new X5’s. The interior is supposed to become way more sophisticated as compared to previous model.
The upcoming X6 will be sharing the platform with the new X5. Weight is expected to drop by 200 pounds while the key dimensions will remain the same. An electrically assisted power steering will be incorporated in order to entertain BMW’s infotainment and telematics systems. Moreover, the car’s electronics architecture will be updated. For U.S citizens, there will be two models to choose from; one will be 300 hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six and the other will be 445-hp, 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8. Although we are expecting it to be a 4 wheel drive but it wouldn’t come as a shock if rear wheel drive is offered. Rear drive results in a low cost and more fuel efficiency. However, X6 might not be pitched towards customers whose concern is low cost or fuel efficiency. In addition to this, The vehicle is most probably going to be an ‘ActiveHybrid’.
The competition which it might be facing includes; Audi Q7, BMW X5, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Mercedes-Benz M-class and Porsche Cayenne. The vehicle is expected to be launched during the summer 2014. Base price might be higher than $61,725. Fingers crossed!
