Tesla has expanded its lineup in China with the official launch of the Model YL, a larger, six-seat version of the Model Y. Priced at 339,000 Chinese Yuan (about $47,000 USD), the new model offers more space, new features, and an extended battery pack while retaining the efficiency that has made the Model Y a global bestseller.
After weeks of teasers, the Model YL appeared on Tesla’s online configurator, finally confirming its price and range. The SUV is roughly $3,600 more expensive than the Model Y Long Range AWD in China but delivers similar performance. Rated at 751 kilometers (466 miles) of range on the CLTC cycle, the YL matches the smaller Long Range variant, largely thanks to its bigger battery.
Physically, the Model YL brings noticeable changes. It stretches about 180 millimeters longer and 24 millimeters taller than the standard Model Y, with a wheelbase extended by 150 millimeters. These adjustments allow for a three-row layout, giving the car six seats, along with increased practicality. Tesla says the Model YL provides up to 2,539 liters of storage and now includes electric armrests for passengers in the second row.
Deliveries are expected to begin in September, with the model aimed squarely at China’s fast-growing mid-to-large SUV market.
