Elon Musk, a mix of most hated and most loved CEO in the US is known for dropping both news and sarcasm bombs on twitter. Whether it is absurd promises for solving Australia’s power crisis in 100 days, or for recycling rockets, he has a reputation for living up to it. The Tesla fans await the arrival of Tesla vehicles beyond the classic sedan, and their anticipations have been answered by the announcement of the date of Tesla pickup truck launch.
The announcement was made on Twitter by Elon Musk himself.
Pickup truck unveil in 18 to 24 months
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 13, 2017
The Tesla pickup truck was first mentioned in a post called Master Plan, Part Deux on Tesla website back in 2016. Musk mentioned ‘a new kind of pickup truck,’ which will be the completion of phase two of Musk’s plans. We only have 18 to 24 months to wait for seeing the high-tech Tesla pickups, which is the time between October 2018 and April 2019. Knowing Elon Musk, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if they came out even sooner.
Pickup trucks are known be very sturdy, and for the most part, low tech and ugly looking but Tesla is going to change that. Until we get to see the real ones, we can make do with the art concepts by the Tesla zealots online.
Musk has also mentioned in the website post of his master plan that we would be seeing semi trucks by September. He writes, “We believe the Tesla Semi will deliver a substantial reduction in the cost of cargo transport while increasing safety and making it really fun to operate.”
Tesla, a fairly new automobile company, has already risen above the automotive giants GM and Ford. While the company’s value has slightly declined, it still stands to be one of the leaders in US automobile industry.
