Elon Musk launched his personal Tesla Roadster with the Falcon Heavy launch with the dummy driver starman on the wheel. The car had been streaming live feed for us as long as it was able to keep the connection. The car has a message displaying that says “Don’t Panic”. However, there might be a need to panic right about now.
The car was supposed to be shot into the Mars orbit after a six-hour coast in the upper part of the rocket, but the final burn of the rocket was more powerful than anticipated and Starman with his Tesla overshot the orbit and is now heading to the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
Musk originally planned for the car to keep floating in space for millions of years but it appears that is not to be. This overshot in trajectory could cut its journey short to just a few decades. However, it is still a feat that has not been achieved before and it will let Musk and SpaceX know about the changes they need to make for future launches.
