Ever wondered how amazing it would be to go on vacation in the outer space? Well, now it’s happening for real thanks to the Big Falcon Rocket by SpaceX.
SpaceX, a private spaceflight company and a key commercial partner to NASA, has recently made public its plans to send tourists around the moon. SpaceX founder and CEO, Elon Musk, announced that SpaceX is working on the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), a launch vehicle to carry people into space.
SpaceX hopes to send Yusaku Maezawa, founder of a renowned Japanese fashion retailer, to the moon via this venture. Realizing this venture would be a big leap towards achieving the dream of Space Tourism and would officially launch the concept to reality.
Musk shared some exciting details about the planned space trip. The Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) is expected to launch in 2023, and it is planned that Maezawa will go on a 5-day trip to the Moon. Maezawa also plans to bring artists with him to the moon through a project called “Dear Moon.”
“Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the moon,” he said. “…That is why I have not passed up this opportunity… But I did not want to have such a fantastic experience by myself. So I want to share this experience with as many people as possible. … That is why I choose to go to the moon with artists.”
In 2023, he wants to six to eight artists from around the world to join him on a mission to the moon.
The launch of Big Falcon Rocket is expected in 2023 and would mark the historic event of launching private space travel.
