The rivalry between Huawei and Xiaomi is not a hidden secret. However, it has escalated a notch following the news that Huawei is all set to unveil its first car at the Shanghai Auto Show 2019. The news has been released shortly after Xiaomi partnered with FAW Bestune for coming up with its first SUV.
According to the details, Huawei is getting ready to take the rivalry in the automobile arena with its very first smart car. The smart car will be developed in collaboration with the state-owned automobile manufacturer, Dongfeng Motors. The car is slated to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show that will be held later this month.
Huawei is already working along with Audi for developing self-driving systems. However, no information has been provided about the launch of the vehicle. There is no information about the kind of car as well. There are reports circulating that state however that the rumored car will feature 5G wireless network along with cloud function, equipment management, in-vehicle communication, vehicle management, information query systems, and traffic scheduling.
Dongfeng and Huawei have already signed a $446 million deal with Xiangyang local authorities, part of a push that is aimed towards 5G enabled autonomous driving vehicles. A smart car, logistics, and transportation cloud platforms will be built as part of the said deal. During the signing of the said deal, a mini-bus model was on display. No details have been public so far. It is not beyond the scope of speculation that Huawei might be focused on offering the technology while the partner provides the mechanical platform. If so, then it would be similar to how Xiaomi has partnered with Bestune.
The fact that the car is slated to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show means that we don’t need to wonder a lot. Shanghai Auto Show 2019 will be taking place later this month, and it is only a matter of days before we get the details about the car!
