Shah Cheragh is a pretty ordinary looking mosque cum tomb when seen from the outside. Once you take a step inside, it will mesmerize and startle you for good.
This mosque, known as “King of the Light,” is located in Shiraz, Iran, and has been a tourist and pilgrimage spot for centuries.
With millions of tiny mirror shards reflecting the light, the whole structure gives an aura of being adorned with shining emeralds to leave you awestruck.

According to one story, around 900 A.D., a traveler Ayatullah Dastgh spotted something shiny from a distance.
When he approached to investigate, he found an illuminated grave. The grave carried an armored corpse of Musa Al-Khdhim, who is considered to be 7th of the twelve Shia Imams.
The area was then made a pilgrimage destination for Shia Muslims around the globe. It became even more famous in the 14th century when Queen Tashi Khatun built a magnificent mosque and a theological school in the vicinity.
Shah Cheragh has borne the brunt of deterioration over time and has been damaged by people, nature, and environmental effects. However, it is still standing in all its magnificence and pulchritude while attracting scores of people from all over the world.
