On Saturday, scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) unexpectedly discovered some bizarre, large holes below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean when they were on routine examination. These mysterious holes were engraved about 1.7 miles below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean and made scientists curious about their existence. Adhering to this inquisitiveness, scientists put a post on Facebook and asked the users if they could provide any details about this thing. The holes form a straight line, as you can see in the pictures embedded below, and it looks like they were made by humans.
Considering this, the scientists asked on the Facebook page of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), “Okay Facebookers, time to get out those scientist hats! On Saturday’s #Okeanos dive, we observed several of these sublinear sets of holes in the sediment. These holes have been previously reported from the region, but their origin remains a mystery. While they look almost human-made, the little piles of sediment around the holes make them seem like they were excavated by… something. “
On that count, it has been reported that the team of explorers from NOAA went there for “Ridge 2022,” which consists of an activity in which three oceanic explorations need to be done. The activity comprises a mapping of the areas including “Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Azores Plateau, and Charlie-Gibbs Fracture Zone”. Moreover, a remotely operated vehicle was also deployed there in order to delve deeper into the details of the ocean. The team asked on Facebook, “What’s YOUR hypothesis?”
The team received a great response from Facebook users who commented regarding the post and detailed the information they knew about these holes. About 60 users commented so far, and all they were talking about were different theories related to aliens or the falling back of some ancient rocks. One of the users stated, “I wonder if some company may be conducting seafloor samples. That might explain the straight lines and the spacing of the holes. Especially if you have seen others in the region. The only thing is, everything else around it doesn’t seem like it’s been disturbed.”
Another one wrote, “I suspect either ancient coral or some sedimentary rock structure underneath has a void for which material is being washed out further away. I would start to see if there were any caves or deformations in the seabed. ” A third user commented, “Upwelling! Freshwater from a land source bubbling up? As if there’s a rock under there, allowing the flowing water to break through in that linear manner.” Similarly, the fourth one said, “Some type of crab maybe.” Memes were also shared on the topic, and some of the users laughed as one of them said, “I’m not saying it was the aliens…but it was the aliens.”
Hence, this mid-Atlantic range is also known for its recurrent earthquakes. To that end, we can just wait till the authorities release some credible and authentic details regarding these holes
