In a Reddit post on Sept. 15, a user named “SentuBill” claimed that ChatGPT initiated a conversation based on prior interactions. According to SentuBill, ChatGPT asked how his first day at school was going, surprising the user with its memory of previous discussions. The user posted the conversation transcript, which Cointelegraph later verified as authentic by cross-referencing it with ChatGPT’s official conversation history.
The interaction suggests that ChatGPT’s new model incorporates enhanced capabilities, allowing it to recall context from prior conversations. This ability appears to be part of a recent upgrade that OpenAI rolled out to a select group of users. On Sept. 13, OpenAI launched a preview of its advanced models, touting them as “smarter” and capable of improved reasoning. According to OpenAI, the upgraded ChatGPT models now take 10-20 seconds to respond, offering more in-depth research and browsing capabilities. These advancements could shift ChatGPT from a novelty to a critical tool for real-world applications.
OpenAI had initially scheduled the release of the model, codenamed “Strawberry,” for November 2024. However, insiders suggest the launch may happen earlier. The company’s naming conventions for models were also updated, signifying that these improvements represent a major leap from previous versions.
With over a million users by April 2024, OpenAI’s products such as ChatGPT and its enterprise subscriptions have experienced fast development. The $150 billion corporation is apparently looking for more private funding. OpenAI may raise the cost of its premium offerings in response to the increasing demand; certain subscription plans could cost as much as $2,000 a month.
