One of the biggest problems faced by the world today is that of clean water. There are numerous ways being used to filter water. The two most common ways are portable pump filters, and bottles with built-in filter straws. Purisoo is a Korean startup that combines the two technologies. This results in a water bottle that can draw water from a natural source, filter it and can be carried around until you need to use it.
Bottles with integrated filters are becoming increasingly common but they require you to fill untreated water before sucking water through the filter straw. This leaves organisms like bacteria around the top of the bottle which can be accidentally ingested. Purisoo solved that problem by filtering as the bottle is being filled.
The water is drawn through a triple-layer filtration system before clean water is deposited in the reservoir. The filter handle of the bottle can be removed to drink directly from the end of the bottle that stays out of the water source. Another nifty feature is the one-meter extension tube to reach water that you cannot reach otherwise.
The Purisoo bottle works the same way as a pump filter but there is no need to carry a pump in a separate water bottle thanks to its integrated water reservoir. One drawback is that due to all the hardware, the capacity of the bottle is reduced to 13.8 oz instead of the normal 16+ oz.
There are enough water cleaning contraptions on the market that people can choose what suits their needs but the Purisoo bottle tries to combine all the features into one to target all the users. The bottle measures 3 X 11 in and weighs 567 grams. The filter needs to be replaced after every 1,000 liters of water. The hardware and bottle need to be hand washed and are not compatible with a dishwasher.
