Okay, I have to say it! This whole deal with crazy jean designs has gone too far for comfort. It was all fun ripping on the muddy jeans concept, but these transparent jeans are downright horrendous! British fashion company Topshop has designed an “ingenious” pair of jeans out of 100% polyurethane plastic that is completely see-through. And adding insult to injury, they have put it for sale at a whopping price of $100
Naturally, it hasn’t got much love from the internet; why would anyone buy a see through plastic bag for 100 bucks! No one knows, but as claimed by Topshop online store, the MOTO Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans are currently out of stock!
Topshop has tried to provide an “inspirational” explanation behind the idea, as they write on their website,
“Think outside the box with these out-of-the-ordinary clear plastic jeans – guaranteed to get people talking. In a straight leg cut, they feature classic pockets detailing and are cropped at the ankle bone. Ideal as a statement piece for a festival or costume party, take the look to the extreme with a bikini and sequin jacket or dress down, layered under an oversized jumper or asymmetric hem dress. 100% Polyurethane. WIPE CLEAN ONLY.”
You can Now Buy This Pair Of Jeans Covered In Fake Mud For Only $425
MOTO Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans has all other elements of the fashionable MOTO jeans that include its signature cut and classic pockets, but they surely can’t be classified as jeans as they have taken denim entirely out of the equation.
Many people actually thought that this was some kind of joke, but soon enough people started to realize that it was just another jab at the company trying to be “edgy” and “out of the box.”
“£55 for a rain coat wrapped round my legs no thanks,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Finally !! topshop make a pair of jeans which won’t fade ! Phew,” another commented.
But there are some positive reviews on the website as well,
“Another quality garment from Topshop. Amazing that they managed to stitch together a pair of jeans from something other than denim and still managed to finish up with something that still looked like jeans,’ CommanderCody wrote.
The company already did experiment with transparent jeans idea when they headline for a pair of mom jeans with clear plastic knee patches. Who knows what kind of lunatic jeans idea we’ll see next!
