It has only been six months since Australia received its first shipment of the Tesla Powerwalls and the country has already publicised its plans for the world’s first “Tesla Town”.
Australian Tesla Town will be located just off the business locality of Melbourne and will officially be named YarraBend after the Yarra River flowing through the district.
The YarraBend will encompass 16.46 hectares of land. The first 60 homes in the Tesla Town are slated for sale this week, the prices starting from USD 1.48 million.
The neighbourhood will comprise of 2500 lodgings including a variety of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
Every house in the world’s first Tesla Town will be topped with a Solar PV roof and will also be fitted with a Tesla Powerwall.
The housing project is being claimed as the most sustainable venture in the country that will cut down the water usage by 43 percent and will also lead to 80 percent lesser garbage addition to the landfills.
The solar panels installed on the rooftops will allegedly generate sufficient energy to ensure that the residents would be able to recharge their electric cars for free.
The houses will be able to generate and store solar energy while efficient lighting will light up the region. Each building will be designed to reduce its environmental footprint.
The development is a pet project of the property group Glenvill. The Tesla Town will be ready to welcome its residents by late 2017.
