These Pair Of Gucci Handcuffs Cost A Staggering $65,000

A pair of Gucci handcuffs designed by Tom Ford almost 20 years ago in 1998 has surfaced on Grailed. These handcuffs have taken the spotlight due to the price tag that accompanies them. They cost a staggering $65,000.

These cuffs are not just any ordinary handcuffs. They have a history of their own. According to the press of that time, Ford designed these handcuffs to send a message to Patrizia Gucci, who was convicted of ordering the murder of her ex-husband and the former head of the fashion house, Maurizio Gucci. Killer of fashion indeed.

The Gucci handcuffs were displayed in the window of the Gucci flagship in Florence on the day of Patrizia’s sentencing. The Independent called this, “a sign, if one were needed, that the world of high fashion has no use for ugly family feuds, except as a source of dark, sardonic humor.”

One customer commented, “I can’t even afford to be arrested in these.” The handcuffs do not require a key and come with a push-button closure. This is not the first time Gucci handcuffs are hitting the resale market, but none of them ever carried such a steep price tag.

Back in 2009, a pair was sold by the auction house Christie’s for approximately $1,917, while another pair is currently on display at the official Museo Gucci in Florence. According to Grailed, the cuffs are made of solid silver and come with the original dust bag and a contemporary Gucci box.
