Dubai is well-known as the playground of the world’s rich and famous. The city is the kingdom of the wealthy and it shows in every aspect, from its splendid shopping malls to its overshadowing skyscrapers. Now the city has one more way by which it is showing to the rest of the world the wealth and splendor of the kingdom. The Dubai Police has recently been building a new fleet of patrol cars which consists of some of the world’s most exotic and powerful supercars.
The Dubai Police’s garage of the world’s most expensive patrol cars includes a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, an Aston Martin, a Bentley and even a BMW and Mercedes. All of the cars can easily exceed 190 mph, making the Dubai Police almost impossible to outrun. The initiative for upgrading the patrol car fleet was taken by the Dubai police when they realized that order had to be brought back to the city’s streets. In the UAE, road accidents are the most common cause of death, with one person being killed every 26 hours. The most common cause for accidents are speeding, talking on the phone and not wearing a seat belt.
Ever since the supercar fleet was introduced, drivers have been begging the police to arrest them and take them to the police station in one of the motorized beauties, just so they can have a first hand experience of what it feels like to sit in such a powerful beast. The police officers that drive these cars must go through specialized training before they can pick their favorite car from the garage.
The supercars from the fleet have gained a lot of attention from the entire world. The latest edition to the pack is a McLaren MP4-12c which was heavily customized just for the Dubai Police. The McLaren won “Car of the Year” and “Best Supercar” at the Middle East Motor Awards. Patrol cars that can beat just about anything on the road is another example of Dubai’s extravagance and the city’s drive to move ahead into the future.
