This immersive interactive restaurant has been created by the Art Collective Teamlab in Anin Tokyo’s Ginza district. The SAGAYA restaurant is an exclusive eatery that serves only eight guests per day. SAGAYA entertains diners who want to enjoy a unique and multi-sensory experience, providing a combination of taste, smell, and scenic beauty of the Japanese culture. The restaurant’s menu and presentation are changed every month. Thus, it consists of a 12-course meal with exotic dishes, like black wagyu beef and seasonal vegetables.

Saga beef restaurant SAGAYA Ginza’s immersive space offers elegant and unique cuisine. The ceramic art is enhanced by real-time projections that use the restaurant’s walls and tables as their canvas. Teamlab’s website reads,

‘When a dish is placed on the table, the scenic world contained within the dish is unleashed, unfolding onto the table and into the surrounding space,’ say the designers.

‘For example, a bird painted on a ceramic dish is released from the dish and can perch on the branch of a tree that has been unleashed from a different dish.’

The projections are selected according to the size and shape of dishes on the table to create an environment of breathtaking change that reflects Japan’s changing seasons. The projections are so life-like that,

‘If you are still, a tiny bird might alight on your hand; if you move suddenly, it might fly away,’ explains Teamlab.
