Technology is advancing rapidly, and now most products have started to look like they are from the future or a science fiction movie. Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 and the BigRep 3D printed motorcycle are the best examples of these futuristic products. The bike is named Nera E-Bike. It is fully electric and perfect for a sustainable future. The company is also helping to bring huge and fully functional prototypes. The Nera E-Bike is a demonstration of where the 3D technology is heading. The Nera project was completed in collaboration with BigRep’s in-house innovation division which was led by Marco Mattia Cristofori and Maximilian Sedlak.
The Nera E-Bike also has features which are beyond the stylish printed frame. The bike has groundbreaking additions like airless tires, embedded electronics, and forkless steering. Nera comes with lightweight rhomboid wheel rim and flexible bumpers instead of suspension. The bike has all its components 3D printed except for the electric components which fit inside the Nera’s customizable case. The co-founder and managing director of the lab, Daniel Buning, described the vision for Nera saying, “The Nera combines several innovations developed by NOWlab, such as the airless tire, functional integration and embedded sensor technology. This bike and our other prototypes push the limits of engineering creativity and will reshape am technology as we know it.”
Many vehicle manufacturing companies in the world are considering 3D printing as an alternative to manufacturing option. The future of the automobile industry can be based on cars, motorbikes, which are 3D printed and can be created from home as well.
