Commander David Fravor and Lt. Cmdr. Jim Slaight were on a routine training mission off the coast of San Diego around 100 miles into the Pacific ocean back in 2004. During the flight, they were asked to investigate a mysterious aircraft floating over the sea. Fravor flew towards the coordinates and observed what he describes as a 40-foot, oval-shaped object. In an interview, Fravor said that the mysterious aircraft appeared from 80,000 feet and hurtled towards the sea before stopping at 20,000 feet and hovering before it disappeared.
This story has broken out after both The New York Times and Politico published unique and detailed reports regarding the Pentagon’s UFO exploration missions. Then-Nevada Senator Harry Reid requested the establishment of the secret government program called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.
Chris Mellon, former Democratic staff director for the Senate Intelligence Committee acknowledged Fravor’s story. He even had things to add. Mellon said, “It is white, oblong, some 40 feet long and perhaps 12 feet thick…The pilots are astonished to see the object suddenly reorient itself toward the approaching F/A-18. In a series of discreet tumbling maneuvers that seem to defy the laws of physics. The object takes a position directly behind the approaching F/A-18. The pilots capture gun camera footage and infrared imagery of the object. They are outmatched by a technology they’ve never seen.”
The New York Times report started out with, “not knowing the explanation does not mean that the event has interstellar origins.” Whereas, the report from Politico quotes an unnamed former Pentagon staff member claiming that a foreign power could have developed the technology. “Was this China or Russia trying to do something or has some propulsion system we are not familiar with?”
Luis Elizondo served as the career intelligence officer who ran the initiative. He resigned and told Politico that his research was not being taken seriously. “We tried to work within the system,” Elizondo said. “We were trying to take the voodoo out of voodoo science.”
Elizondo also had things to say about the encounter with the mysterious aircraft. “They [the mysterious aircraft] did not exhibit overt hostility,” Elizondo explained. “But something unexplained is always assumed to be a potential threat until we are certain it isn’t. On the bright side, I believe we are closer than ever before in our understanding of how it operates.”
