Remember the portable charger that used fire to juice up your smartphone? Well, now you can also use water to do the same!
Estream is a portable generator powered by the running water. The device is charged by a flowing river which can then be used to power up any USB-connected device. The gadget is perfect for hikers and campers.
Enomad came up with the design of Estream while envisioning innovative ways to live a life off-the-grid. The mechanical energy of the moving water stream is used to move the turbine installed in the device. The battery installed in the Estream can be charged in up to four and a half hours. Once fully charged, Estream can juice up three smartphones, GoPros, or even tablets.
Estream can even be charged if the water current is not too strong. You can also charge it by dragging it behind your canoe. The modular design of the Estream implies that it can also be used as an underwater lantern.
“Not only does it minimize the environmental impact of your energy consumption, but it allows users to take an active role in experiencing how energy is produced and used.”
The small and user-friendly design makes it appealing for the tech savvy and non-technical folks alike. You can use Estream to benefit from the hydropower on the go. Enomad is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the device.
