Meet Tara Sharifi, who is a student at Aylesbury High School. She recently took the Mensa IQ test in Oxford. Why is such a big thing? That is because Tara Sharifi was able to score way more than the ‘genius benchmark’ of 140.
Tara Sharifi, an eleven-year-old student, was able to score 162 points on the Mensa IQ test. This score is two points higher than that of Einstein’s and the world-famous Professor Stephen Hawking. Both are considered to be the geniuses of the world, but Tara was able to beat them both.
The Mensa IQ test has to be completed within a predefined amount of time and is focused on the student’s ability to understand the meanings of words. Tara Sharifi said, ‘I was shocked when I got the result – I never expected to get such a good score.’ Thanks to the score that she secured, Tara Sharifi has qualified for the Mensa membership – also known as the High IQ Society.
She said, ‘It was a joint decision between me and my parents to take the test. It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet other people within the Mensa system. I have told some of my friends at school, and they were really impressed.’ She further said that once she becomes older, she would like to pursue ‘something related to mathematics.’
Sharifi’s dad has admitted that he was shocked when he found out about the result. However, he says that he is really proud of the achievement of his daughter. Hossein, the father of Tara, said, ‘I am extremely proud but very surprised at how well Tara scored. I figured she might do well when we watched TV, and she would get maths questions before the contestants. I knew she was very clever, but I did not think she would have such a high IQ.’
