Many iPhone Users Are Discovering A New Feature That Can Greatly Help Your Battery Health

iPhone Users Rave About Feature Which Can Help Your Battery

A battery’s lifespan is dictated by its chemical age, which is more than just the time it was constructed. A battery’s chemical age is influenced by a complex set of parameters, including temperature history and charging behavior.

Optimised Battery Charging, available in iOS 13 and later, is intended to reduce wear on your battery and extend its life by lowering the time your iPhone is fully charged. When enabled, your iPhone will delay charging above 80% in certain situations. Your iPhone employs on-device machine learning to understand your daily charging routine, so Optimised Battery Charging will only activate when it anticipates being plugged in for an extended period of time. The algorithm ensures that your iPhone remains fully charged even while unplugged.

When Optimised Battery Charging is enabled, a notice on the Lock Screen indicates when your iPhone will be fully charged. If you require your iPhone to be fully charged faster, touch and hold the notice and tap Charge Now. Optimised Battery Charging is turned on by default when setting up your iPhone.

If you want to change your charging options: With iPhone 14 and prior devices, navigate to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging and off Optimised Battery Charging. To select Optimised Battery Charging, 80% Limit, or None for iPhone 15 models, navigate to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > Charging Optimisation and select an option. Turning off charging optimizations can cause your battery to wear out faster and lower its lifespan.

With iPhone 15 models, you can select between Optimised Battery Charging, 80% Limit, or None.

When you select 80% Limit, your iPhone will charge up to approximately 80% and then cease charging. If the battery charge level drops to 75 percent, charging will restart until it reaches roughly 80 percent again.

With the 80% Limit activated, your iPhone will periodically charge to 100% to ensure accurate battery state-of-charge calculations.

Optimized charging is intended to only operate in areas where you spend the most time, such as your home and workplace. The feature will not activate if your usage habits are more varied, such as when you travel. As a result, several location settings must be enabled before Optimised Battery Charging can function.* None of the location data used in this feature is transferred to Apple.

Take these steps: Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and enable Location Services. Then go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services and turn on System Customisation. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations and turn on Significant Locations.
