LEVAN – New Computer Program Is Capable Of Learning Everything About Any Topic By Itself

The ‘Smart’ age that we are living in is performing wonders and we are at the helm of what they will most probably call the revolution age and how it took over the world (in a good way). Computers are being enhanced more and more with every passing day and finally, we are witnessing the dawn of a new era thanks to a computer scientist at the University of Washington and the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Seattle. The team has made a program that is capable of searching on Internet for any given topic and will learn everything about it.

Now the first question that should be asked is why do we need a program such as this when we can search the Internet for such information ourselves. The answer is simple; you’ll spend hours wandering through the huge amounts of data related to a particular topic you are searching on. This program basically takes care of all that hard work for you while cutting down time required by quite a huge margin. The program has been named LEVAN, which is an abbreviation for ‘Learning EVertything About Anything’. The program is capable of going through millions of Google Books, Internet images and virtually all kind of data pertaining to the searched topic and shall learn everything about it. Once the program’s learning process finishes, it provides the user with a compiled list of results that will allow the user to better understand about that particular topic.

The uniqueness of this program lies in its methodology for searching visual concepts. While working its way through images; the program does more than just look at the image’s caption – it will look at pixels in images and will identify particular shapes pertaining to the topic. As far as words go; LEVAN will crawl through all English language Google Books and employ proprietary algorithms to ascertain the related text.

As of now, LEVAN has a data bank that contains information of 175 topics that include a variety of topics ranging from ‘airline’ to ‘innovation’. If the searched topic doesn’t exist in its library, the program will dedicate itself on searching the Internet for it.
