Elon Musk has been known to come up with crazy schemes to raise funds for his projects. One such example we all saw was how he completely sold out the flamethrowers within a couple of days. Now he has announced the latest merchandise for The Boring Company and this time it is very much related to the digging efforts. It will be lego-styled bricks made from the rock that has been tunnelled.
The Boring Company really emerged in the beginning of 2017 and wants to improve the current tunnelling methods, cutting costs by a factor of 10 and to increase the speed at which current machines do the job. One way of achieving this is by shrinking the size of the tunnels. The company is planning to cut the width of the tunnels in half and tripling the power of the machines as well as automating them to run on their own.
Last year in May, the company revealed that it was working on technologies that would turn the excavated dirt into bricks for construction. Musk delivers on his promise and announced the lego-styled bricks. He took to Twitter to make his announcement to the world.
New Boring Company merch coming soon. Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.

“New Boring Company merch coming soon,” he tweeted. “Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunnelling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.”
Expanding on this, Musk has revealed that the “First kit set will be ancient Egypt –pyramids, Sphinx, temple of Horus, etc.” And in response to a question from another Twitter user about using these bricks for low-cost housing, he said, “Yeah, the boring bricks are interlocking with a precise surface finish, so two people could build the outer walls of a small house in a day or so.”
We will have to wait for the lego-styled bricks to come out officially before we can comment on them any further.
