Google’s first leak of the fall has arrived, and the internet is buzzing with new renders of the upcoming Pixel 9A. Android Headlines, known for acquiring early looks at Google’s budget A-series, has once again partnered with OnLeaks to reveal the design of the Pixel 9A, following their earlier leak of the Pixel 8A.
One of the most notable changes in the Pixel 9A is the absence of Google’s signature visor-like camera housing. Instead, the new design features two rear cameras within a pill-shaped module, which sits almost flush with the back of the phone. A flash sits to the right, reminiscent of the iPhone 7 Plus but larger. This shift represents a significant design departure from previous models, giving the 9A a sleeker, more minimalistic rear appearance.
Apart from the revamped camera layout, the overall design of the Pixel 9A remains consistent with other devices in the Pixel 9 lineup. It features thin bezels around the display, a look similar to both its siblings and current iPhone models.
Additionally, according to Android Headlines, the Pixel 9A may ship with Android 15 out of the box and be the final A-series device to feature a Tensor chip built by Samsung, since Google is anticipated to transition to TSMC processors beginning in 2025.
Though these models provide us an intriguing preview of what’s to come, given that Google usually releases its A-series phones around its springtime annual Google I/O event, it will probably be some time before we see the complete details.
