Guess who has decided to try the smartphone market? We all know about the big names in the smartphone industry; what you all probably don’t know is that Kodak – the camera film tycoon – is preparing to enter the smartphone market with its smartphone that has been named IM5.Kodak IM5 – The Smartphone by Kodak

Kodak has focused on its core expertise; the camera. The image quality has been greatly enhanced thanks to the ‘unique image management software’ while the phone also has an easy interface that will help the company target newcomers opting for smartphones.

The specifications include a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, primary camera of 13MP with an LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera. The RAM is worth 1GB and the phone comes with a built-in storage of 8GB while also featuring a microSD card slot. The processor has yet not been named but is said to be an 1.7 GHz octa-core processor. The device will run Android 4.4 KitKat and shall be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop afterwards.

The phone comes equipped with an app that will allow users to carry out image editing conveniently and shall also allow users to upload them to social media without any hassle. The smartphone also allows users to print the photos directly with a single push of a button while a button on home screen is also present for printing pictures. The gadget has been built by Bullitt – the same guys who are behind the CAT phones.

The home screen has been kept quite simplistic and easy to use, therefore allowing youngsters and elderly to use it without much effort. The phone has a remote access feature that enables someone without physical access to the phone remotely control it via computer.

It will be made available in Europe by the end of March 2015 and shall be going through an international roll-out in the following months. The IM5 will cost $249 in US. Check out the video below for more details:
