Japan Unveils Mobile Mosques For 2020 Olympics

The Summer Olympics 2020 is almost upon us, and Tokyo is busy making sure that everything is sorted out. A sports and cultural events organization has taken the extra step by building and making sure that peace remains the theme Mobile Mosque. CEO of Yasu Project, Yasuharu Inoue, said, ‘As an open and hospitable country, we want to share the idea of ‘omotenashi’ [Japanese hospitality] with Muslim people.’

This Mobile Mosque that comes from Yasu Project is basically a mosque on wheels. It is a white and blue colored 25-ton truck that can be opened from the back and doubles in its width from the side, thus making enough room for fifty Muslims to offer their prayers. The Mobile Mosque also features a washing section where taps have been installed on the outside for the sake of cleansing purposes.

The Mobile Mosque(s) will be stopping at different Olympic destinations to make sure that the Muslins in the international community are being catered to during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Yasuharu Inoue had also added that the inspiration for the Yasu Project came to him when he was visiting Qatar about four years ago.

He hopes that Mobile Mosque will create world peace and initiate respect for other religions as well. What do you think of Yasu Project and the Mobile Mosque? Do you think it would serve the intended purpose? Or is there a possibility that this might become a victim to religionization? We sure hope that it is able to serve its intended purpose and plays its role in ensuring world peace and respect for other reasons at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Despite everything, we do applaud this amazing effort that has been made by Yasu Project and its CEO Yasuharu Inoue in the form of this mobile mosque. Do let us know what you think of it!
