Dubai is set to redefine skyscraper design with the Muraba Veil, an ultra-slim residential tower that will be only one apartment wide. Rising to a remarkable 380 meters (1,246 feet) in height but a narrow 22.5 meters (73 feet) in width, this architectural marvel is being developed by Muraba in collaboration with the esteemed design team at RCR Arquitectes, alongside engineering experts WSP and Arup. Located in a prime area of Dubai, the Muraba Veil promises to blend modern luxury with traditional Arabian influences.
A noteworthy feature of the Muraba Residences is the stainless-steel “veil” with Mashrabiya-style mesh. It will protect the interiors from the glare of the bright sun in Dubai but leave views unaltered, inspired by traditional Arabian design. The architecture of the building reflects shades of Arabian design, as it is all about privacy, shading, and airflow. The 131 luxurious residences will be located on 73 floors, each stretching across the entire width of the tower. Prime unobstructed vistas over the iconic Dubai skyline are guaranteed. Ranging from two to five bedrooms, the apartments start from AED18,000,000 (US$4.9 million).
Some of the high-end amenities that the development will include are restaurant, art gallery, cinema, amphitheater, and spa- all located underground. This initiative between luxury and cultural heritage aims to give a unique living experience by fusing modern innovation with traditional architectural aesthetics.
Rafael Aranda, Founder at RCR Arquitectes, says, “Muraba Veil is our response to the unique landscape and culture of Dubai… a building that feels connected to its surroundings while pushing the boundaries of what a skyscraper can be.” Indeed, Muraba Veil joins a growing global trend of ultra-slender skyscrapers like New York’s 11 West 57th Street and the Pencil Tower Hotel, pioneering a new chapter in high-rise architecture. Completion dates for the Muraba Veil have yet to be confirmed, but it is already capturing imaginations worldwide.
