The design of a water bottle has seen a number of changes over the years. The most rooted for design upgrade, however, is the one where they have incorporated collapsing bottle into pocket size once it runs out of the water. The Hydaway, currently raising funds on Kickstarter, has come up with a bit different approach to this situation. The gadget is capable of compacting like an accordion into a flat disc that can be stored in the pocket.
The gadget has soft sides and features a flat cap thus compacting into a disc that measures in at 1.25 inches when it comes to thickness. It does, however, sports a larger diameter of 4.25 inches when compared with other collapsible bottles. The body of the gadget has been created from silicon that is food-grade and comes with a BPA-free plastic base and cap.
It is being promoted as a taste and odor-free gadget. The cap is screw-on and comes with a drinking valve and seal that is watertight.
The only downside that we have been able to spot so far is the design it exhibits when it bottle form. The design is, simply put; awkward. Apparently, a central ring has attached to it a number of small and large collapsible camping cups. However, we still think that the experience could be worth it when the actual thing comes out. Apparently, Kickstarter users feel the same since this device has raised three times its funding goal, and there are still a few weeks before the campaign ends.
You can place an order for your Hydaway with a pledge of $20 and options for 350ml and 600ml sizes. Both versions have the same diameter, however vary in their height. The larger one measures in at 6 inches while, the smaller one measures in at 4 inches. If everything goes according to plan, deliveries will start in August, 2015.
