Huawei Overtakes Samsung In Smart Phones Sales

Huawei takes the number one spot in smartphone sales, leaving Apple and Samsung behind. The Chinese Tech company was rated as the top spot holder in the second quarter of 2020. The news broke out after a technology market analyst firm published a report.

For nine years, Samsung and Apple juggled between the top two spots in Tech companies only now when Huawei made the news. Huawei taking the number one spot in selling more smartphones than its rivals, has a lot to do with the ongoing Pandemic.

The company has taken optimum use of the Chinese economic recovery in the times of Coronavirus. It boomed in sales within the domestic market. Samsung holds near to 1 percent of market share in China, whereas its core markets in Brazil, India, Europe, and the United States are all ravaged with the virus and lockdowns. It is hence affecting the business flow at large.

Experts expect this not to be too long when Samsung retakes its market share, but after restrictions imposed by the U.S and Huawei losing 27 percent of its sales abroad, it still is a big deal for Huawei to get ahead. The company achieved this milestone with not even having direct access to Google applications. Huawei shipped 55.8 million devices, and Samsung followed it with shipping 53.7 million devices in the period from April till June 2020.

Mo Jia, an analyst at Canalys, said, “It will be hard for Huawei to maintain its lead in the long term.” China’s domestic market will not be able to keep on supporting Huawei when the world economy begins to recover, and things go back to normal.
