Heart Diseases Can Now Be Predicted Accurately Through Eyes Using Google AI

Google’s AI is capable of predicting a person’s heart condition by observing their eyes. A research was conducted by scientists from Google and its health-tech Subsidiary Verily. The AI from Google can survey the eye images with a 45-degree field of view. With the software, it can analyze the blood pressure, the age of the individual and whether the person smokes or not. All these factors were mentioned by the doctor about a person’s heart condition after carrying out many tests. With the help of the AI, it can be done in a single step.

Google and Verily analyzed the medical data set of almost 300,000 patients’ eyes from UK and US through a machine learning software. Further research is needed to find out whether the model needs to be adjusted for larger or smaller photos for better outcome and authentic results. Google AI Algorithm scans the back of the patient’s eye since the rear wall of the eye is full of blood vessels which can be used to judge a person’s overall health in a medical point of view.

The software is not yet ready for clinical testing but this can be a good innovation of ‘Cardiovascular Health.’ Luke Oakden-Rayner, a medical researcher at the University of Adelaide, said, They’re taking data that’s been captured for one clinical reason and getting more out of it than we currently do.” Google AI can prove to be a promising model for the company in terms of medical. It will take many testings before it can be used in clinical environment.
