Google reveals a new magic window that would allow people to virtually chat making the experience appear as the person is right in front.
The magic window with a lifelike 3D experience was announced by Google at the annual I/O conference on Monday.
Communication tech and the industry has paced up in the last two decades, starting from telephones for communicating to the wide use of cell phones that are compact and handy, the communication industry has traveled quite some distance.
Communication is getting cheaper with time; earlier telephone communication came at a cost far more than what it consumes from the pocket in today’s world. Hence, making it easy to communicate and connect with loved ones.
Earlier on, people used to talk to each other through the phone, and that got an addition of video calling feature as the technology advanced. However, Google is now optimizing the video calling feature for an unparalleled experience where the new technology would create the feel if the person is standing right in front, even if they are thousands of miles away.
The project is still undergoing the development stages but seems like Google couldn’t hold back the invention and unveiled the new project while it still is in its development stages.
The new chat technology by Google known as Project Starline aims at making it possible to “see another person, life-size and in three dimensions,” Google said.
The technology makes it possible to view and chat with a person in a 3D action by employing 3D imaging and real-time compression “to capture people as they are,” according to Steve Seitz, Google’s director of engineering. A statement read, “it would really feel like you’re talking with someone right in front of you.”
The initiative “is a technology project that combines advances in hardware and software to help people feel like they’re together, even when they’re apart,” he continued.
It is yet unclear when the tech would be available for mass use, however, the announcement comes transforming the idea of video calling as we know today.
