Let’s be honest here, shall we? The primary reason why many folks are privy of driving an electric car is due the fear of running out of charge in the middle of nowhere and that is indeed a scary thought. For the conventional car, the problem can be solved by going to a gas station that are abundantly built. However, the same can’t be said about the electric cars and their charging stations.
Goodyear has suggested a way of solving this problem via an innovative tire design. This amazing design allows the tire to generate electricity while the car is being driven or is stationary. This allows the user to have ‘back up’ energy apart from the main power supply. The tire has been designed so that it makes use of a number of sources of energy for generation of electricity.
It makes use of the heat that is generated due to friction between the road and tire when the car moves. It is also capable of capturing kinetic energy that is the result of tire’s flexing while it moves. It captures light and heat energy when it is stationary from the environment and converts the accumulated energy into electricity.
There aren’t many details available as to how the tire achieves all this, however, we are more than just interested to see how well it performs once it is realized. There isn’t any release date yet, so fingers crossed!
