For The First Time In History, NASA Recorded Something Coming Out Of A Black Hole

If you think you have seen pictures of a black hole, then you might be wrong because those are only illustrations. Human race does not possess the technology to view black holes or capture them through a lens. Now the question arises that how do scientists know that a black hole exists in a particular area. How do we know that Black Holes are present in the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way? How do we even know that black hole exist?

Scientists have theorized the shape of a Black Hole by analyzing the properties it possesses. Signs like orbits of stars and objects spiraling around a black spot and astrophysical jets tell about the presence of Black Holes. However, NASA researchers have observed another distinctive feature of black holes, the magnetic fields. NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory discovered these magnetic properties for Infrared Astronomy, a.k.a. SOFIA.

Black Holes can either be active or dormant. A black hole that is sucking space debris and nearby objects are generally classified as active or feeding black hole. An active black hole has a cloud of dust and debris surrounding them called Torus. Scientists are not sure about its formation, but this discovery of a magnetic field might be the answer. “It’s always exciting to discover something completely new”, said Enrique Lopez-Rodriguez, the lead author on the report of this discovery and a scientist at the SOFIA Science Center. He added, “These observations from HAWC+ are unique. They show us how infrared polarisation can contribute to the study of galaxies.”

Black holes are one big mystery and now and then it keeps us provided with a new mystery to solve. One such event took place recently and shook the scientists and researchers. Something emerged out of a black hole. The real reason for it to be such a big deal is that black holes have powerful gravitational pull. The extent of its gravity can be guessed by the fact that even light cannot escape its pull. According to readings from Swift, NASA’s Explorer, and NuSTAR, Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array, a light eruption occurred in the center of a supermassive black hole situated in the Pegasus constellation 324 million light years away.

Researchers have a belief that it is Corona, Coronas are high-energy beams of X-ray that shoot out of a Black Hole after gaining enough energy from extremely high-energy particle sources. Dan Wilkins of Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada said, “The corona gathered inward at first and then launched upwards like a jet. We still don’t know how jets in black holes form, but it’s an exciting possibility that this black hole’s corona was beginning to form the base of a jet before it collapsed.”
