Ferrari’s CEO Says That Its EVs Are Not Going To Be Quite Like The Others

In a recent appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari, provided tantalizing insights into their upcoming electric vehicle (EV). He emphasized that Ferrari’s EV won’t merely meld into the ambient hum like other electric cars but will make its presence known distinctly. Vigna emphasized that contrary to popular belief, electric cars aren’t always silent; thanks to cutting-edge technology, they can offer a variety of sounds. Ferrari is keen to maintain its distinctive roar, synonymous with the power of its traditional combustion engines, ensuring that driving enthusiasts won’t miss out on the excitement.

“Electric cars are not silent,” Vigna said during an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box on Tuesday. “If you know the technology, you know you can do a lot of things also with electric cars,” he added.

Vigna mentioned Ferrari’s different way of looking at electric cars. Ferrari isn’t just about transportation; it’s about the feeling you get when you drive one. Their electric car won’t be for everyone like Tesla’s. It’s for people who want the luxury and excitement only a Ferrari can offer.

“When we talk about luxury cars like our cars, we are talking about the emotion that we are able to deliver to our client, so we are not talking about functional cars like other EVs that you see on the road,” the Ferrari CEO said.

Ferrari’s upcoming electric car, set to hit the roads by 2025, shows how they’re taking a big step forward. Other car companies like Hyundai and Dodge are doing similar things, making their electric cars sound like traditional ones, so they feel more familiar to fans, according to car expert Ed Kim.

“Automakers are responding to some enthusiasts’ worries that electric cars have no soul,” he said.

Ferrari, while adapting to new technology, aims to maintain its special identity. They want their electric cars to stand out, providing a thrilling drive like their traditional models but with a futuristic twist. This strategy allows Ferrari to offer something different in the electric car market, providing drivers with an exciting option that breaks away from the usual quietness of electric vehicles.
