CEO Mark Zuckerberg faced intense workplace pressure during his opening company-wide meeting of 2025 at Meta. Workers at Meta needed answers from their CEO regarding forthcoming job cuts and alterations to content moderation policies and changes in corporate culture at the company. From the beginning Zuckerberg indicated his refusal to participate in discussions which he considered would damage company value because of leaks.
The most contentious issue emerged from the February 10th deadline for dismissing “low-performers.” Zuckerberg maintained that cutting employees directly was the most effective method to handle the situation. Meta’s decision to eliminate its diversity and inclusion programs received support from Zuckerberg because he believed changing regulatory standards made it impossible to maintain targeted group preferences.

The changing content regulations at Meta became a key area of discussion during the hearing. The CEO explained to the public that Meta wanted users to share their opinions freely on the platform regardless of whether Meta supported those opinions. Zuckerberg explained to reporters that Meta’s growing partnership with the Trump administration was a strategic decision which could lead to beneficial governmental collaboration.
During the interview Zuckerberg expressed great enthusiasm about the artificial intelligence and smart glasses developments at Meta. The executive disclosed that Ray-Ban smart glasses reached sales of 1 million units in 2024 while indicating upcoming high-tech eyewear releases for this year. Meta AI has already reached 700 million users through its ChatGPT competitor while Zuckerberg plans to increase this number to 1 billion by the end of the year. He ended the meeting by telling employees that 2025 would be a demanding year which required them to prepare themselves.
