If you like to wonder about stuff then you must have at one point in your life, wondered about what ‘YKK’ stands for and why is it on almost every zipper? Today we shall unravel the mystery behind it. It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha. Back in 1934, Tadao Yoshida founded Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha (Yoshida Industries Limited). As of now, this company is the foremost zipper manufacturer and creates about 90% of all the zippers using its 206 facilities located in 52 countries. They even manufacture the machines that manufacture zippers.
The largest factory under their flagship in Georgia cranks out 7 million zippers per day. The company managed to reach the top by using the ‘Cycle of Goodness’. Mr. Yoshida defines it as, “No one prospers unless he renders benefit to others.” He used this principle to create the best zippers in the world thus benefiting manufacturers who used his product and the end user as well. This in response benefitted his company and sales went up.
