Ever Wondered How It Feels Like To Swim Like A Shark Underwater? Now You Can Try It Yourself

Ever wished you could glide underwater like a shark? The new Shark jet pack from Kikfin might be the closest thing yet. It’s a wearable, triple-thruster pack that adds biomimetic fins to help give you better speed and nimble movement beneath the surface. The main version is called Fly and there’s the upgraded Shark with an extra dorsal fin and battery for longer underwater fun.

Here’s how it works: you strap on a harness with water-jets mounted around your shoulders and back. The Fly version has two thrusters; the Shark adds a third fin-mounted dorsal thruster to mimic a shark’s silhouette and improve maneuverability. For steering, there are side fins you can flap to help change direction. The battery can be swapped in the water, so you don’t need to haul everything out just to switch packs.

Performance is modest yet promising. With full throttle, the Shark can push out about 46 lb-ft of thrust and reach speeds near 8 mph (13 km/h). That might not sound fast on land, but underwater it’s a big deal — moving at over two and a half meters per second without doing much work. The battery life ranges from around 45 to 90 minutes depending on how aggressively you use the thrusters and fins.

It weighs about 9 pounds (4 kg) including battery, and is rated to dive down to 40 meters (131 feet). That gives a lot of freedom for recreational use underwater, whether you’re exploring reefs, doing underwater photography, or just messing around in clear water.

There are still question marks. Price hasn’t been announced and Kikfin has limited public info on launch timelines. Also, while the tech looks fun, real world conditions like currents, obstacles, and safety gear (like scuba tanks or rebreathers) will likely test what the Shark can really do.

The Kikfin Shark is less about replacing swimming, more about enhancing it. It lets you push through water like sea creatures do – with more propulsion and control. If it delivers on its promises, this is one of the coolest ways yet to transform what human underwater movement can feel like.
