Do you know what’s more eccentric than Elon Musk? His new home. You’d think the techno king would live in a futuristic castle, something straight out of cyberpunk. He’d maybe even have 2 or 3 cute Shiba Inus. You know, with him being the Dogefather and all. However, he’s chosen something much leaner and smaller than a castle.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has chosen to live in a prefabricated house that’s more like a box. The house is about 400 square feet and on-site at the company’s South Texas testing facilities. Maybe Musk wants to save the bill on everyday commutes he’d have to make from far fancier living areas. This news comes after Musk’s tweet about selling his house which you can view below.
It seems that Musk would rather live a humble life than an extravagant one. Unlike other billionaires, he’s committed to a humble lifestyle. Having his home near his testing facilities also means that he puts his work before anything else. He has a strong commitment to his space company. His goal of making space flight available to everyone needs his full focus.
His commitment was shown back in 2018 when he said that he would make his dream of commercial space flight come true even if the heroes that inspired him to do it were against his ideals. You can see the interview in the video below.
Anyways, his new house in a 20 by 20 foot home called the Boxable Casita at SpaceX’s South Texas facilities. The home costs $50,000 but despite its small size, Elon Musk said that “It’s kinda awesome though”. The home is also light enough that it can be towed by a Tesla Model X.
An onsite home gives him full access to SpaceX’s developments any time he wants.
