Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, has put an end to the speculation surrounding the proposed cage fight between her son and Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg. Concerned for her son’s safety, Maye took to Twitter to express her opposition to the matchup, urging people not to encourage it and stating that she had canceled the fight.
The challenge was initially issued by Elon Musk on June 20 after a discussion on META, Facebook’s parent company, potentially creating a Twitter rival. Zuckerberg responded on Instagram with the phrase “send me location,” indicating his willingness to participate in the fight. Despite both men having trained in different fighting styles, no official confirmation had been made regarding the event.
Maye Musk’s tweets served as a clear message of her disapproval. In response to a podcaster who seemed enthusiastic about the fight, she wrote, “Don’t encourage this match!” She further stated, “Actually, I canceled the fight. I haven’t told them yet. But I will continue to say the fight is canceled, just in case…” Maye even proposed an alternative, suggesting a verbal battle consisting of three questions each, with the funniest answers winning.
The cage battle was initially proposed by Elon Musk, who is well-known for his humor and humorous nature on social media, but he has not made any public remarks regarding his mother’s intervention. On the other hand, Zuckerberg dazzled martial arts fans at a recent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition by showcasing his grappling abilities and taking home trophies.
The president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, expressed interest in staging the bout and thought it may rank among the biggest occasions in history. White defended the contest, highlighting that it was not a gimmick but rather a confrontation between two wealthy and powerful people, in response to criticism from some MMA fans who object to the idea of a “gimmick fight.”
While the idea of a physical confrontation between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg may have excited some, Maye Musk’s intervention has effectively canceled the fight. It remains to be seen how the two billionaires will respond to her decision and whether they will explore alternative means of settling their differences.
