Elon Musk is someone who has had his fair share of the spotlight. With his latest venture of the flamethrowers, he is in the headlines once more. The flamethrowers are being offered by his tunnel-digging venture, the Boring Company.
Over 10,000 units have been sold in the past 2 days alone and concern is growing about them falling into the wrong hands but Elon Musk has been endorsing the product with great zeal and enthusiasm. A number of people bought the flamethrower just because they are huge fans of Elon Musk but is not hard to believe that some might have an ulterior motive.
When the zombie apocalypse happens, you’ll be glad you bought a flamethrower. Works against hordes of the undead or your money back!

Musk is a very influential figure and people are arguing that he does not realize the kinds of tweets that he is doing are having a huge impact on the general populace.
Californian Assemblyman Miguel Santiago is the one who is raising the issue more than anyone else and is seeking a total ban on the public sale of the flamethrower in the state of Californa. He also took to Twitter to make his case saying that this puts his credibility in question. “The state of California and the county and city of Los Angeles have entrusted Mr. Musk to help alleviate a real public policy problem here by executing a tunnel under the city to help alleviate traffic.”
NO FLAMETHROWERS IN CALIFORNIA, SAYS ASSEMBLYMAN. LOOKING AT YOU @elonmusk pic.twitter.com/qCK2iCf9eP

He also made the point that Musk could not have chosen a worse time for the flamethrowers as many Californians have witnessed destruction and devastation in the worst forest fires in the history of the state. Musk’s projects are normally aimed towards the greater good but this one seems to have no motive behind it except having a good time.
If this is real, I’m outraged and you should be too. If this is a joke, then it’s a terribly insensitive one given that we’re coming off of the worst wildfire season in history. Either way: NOT FUNNY. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. https://t.co/DCC2xyVsn4

There have been a number of questions raised on the safety of the flamethrowers and Musk has taken to Twitter to answer these concerns in a manner that has received further criticism.
But wait, there’s more: the flamethrower is sentient, its safe word is “cryptocurrency” and it comes with a free blockchain

Marque Brownlee is techie YouTuber and during his exchange with him on Twitter, he didn’t answer his question directly and spoke in the manner that he is known for.
ATF says any flamethrower with a flame shorter than 10 ft is A-ok. Our design is max fun for least danger. I’d be way more scared of a steak knife.
