Elon Musk is hiring again after laying off roughly two-thirds of Twitter’s 7,500-person workforce in three weeks.
According to The Verge, Musk claimed during a meeting with Twitter employees on Nov. 21 that the firm is done with layoffs and is actively hiring for openings in engineering and sales and that staff is encouraged to make referrals.
While Musk is looking to recruit engineers from India to help build Twitter 2.0, he has not yet specified the technical or sales positions the company aims to fill. The official website of microblogging site currently does not list any employment openings.
Musk fired approximately 90% of his employees during the recent layoffs. According to reports, only about 20 out of some 200 staff members are still employed and have not been laid off. Musk appears to have sacked the entire communications, marketing, and partner relations team based in India.
After Musk’s acquisition, Twitter laid off thousands of employees. Starting with former Twitter CEOs Parag Agrawal and Vijaya Gadde, followed by 50% of the global staff, including India. Musk later cut off over 4000 contract workers, and the sales team was among those affected in the most recent round of layoffs this week.
After repeated rounds of layoffs, it appears Musk no longer wants anyone else to quit the company and begin to work on Twitter 2.0. Musk previously stated that he works hard with Twitter employees daily and wants everyone to be prepared for a “hardcore” work style.
