Elon Musk Reportedly Has A Huge Conflict of Interest Motivating Him to Gut USAID

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), established by Elon Musk, has reportedly dismantled USAID, which is responsible for distributing billions in foreign aid. The planned action will result in devastating outcomes because a USAID official who remains unidentified predicts the potential loss of “thousands, if not hundreds of thousands” of lives.

Through his inflammatory social media posts, Musk has openly criticized USAID as a criminal organization while spreading baseless COVID-19 conspiracy theories about the agency. New evidence shows that his forceful elimination of USAID might stem from his desire to gain financial benefits.

The Lever reported that USAID’s inspector general conducted an investigation of Musk’s Starlink partnership with Ukraine’s government when DOGE launched its plan to terminate the agency. The situation creates substantial ethical issues because Musk potentially employed his government role to protect his business from regulatory checks. USAID’s investigation examined its control over Starlink terminals delivered to Ukraine together with its initiatives to stop sexual exploitation in the war zone.

The Ukraine-Russia conflict has brought intense criticism toward Musk’s actions. According to reports, he restricted Starlink coverage because he believed the satellite network should not be used in warfare, although he did so to stop Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s naval fleet. Russian military forces are obtaining Starlink terminals by purchasing them from illegal market dealers.

The dismantling of USAID by Musk has already triggered widespread disruption across the organization. The removal of USAID personnel alongside the collapsing aid system endangers millions of people across the globe. Critics view this move as an authoritarian power grab by Musk, which threatens lives through his policy decision. New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie described the situation as “an autocratic power grab that directly attacks the sovereignty of American people.”
