In the world of celebrity offspring, unique and sometimes eccentric names have become a common trend. Elon Musk and Grimes, known for their innovative ideas and artistic endeavors, are no strangers to this trend. In the latest revelation from Elon Musk’s new biography, it appears that the couple had considered giving their daughter an even more unconventional name than her current one.
Elon Musk and Grimes are the proud parents of three children: X Æ A-Xii, affectionately known as X; Exa Dark Sideræl, lovingly referred to as Y; and Techno Mechanicus, who goes by Tau. However, it’s the naming journey of their daughter, Y, that has recently come to light.
Initially, the couple toyed with the idea of naming their daughter Sailor Mars, drawing inspiration from the beloved Japanese anime “Sailor Moon.” It’s a name that would have certainly stood out, even in the realm of celebrity baby names.
However, as the biography penned by Walter Isaacson reveals, Grimes later explained their choice of Exa Dark Sideræl, saying that their daughter is “all sparkly and a lot goofier troll.” This name, while still unconventional, is a testament to the couple’s unique style and creativity.
But the naming journey didn’t stop there. According to the biography, Elon Musk and Grimes briefly considered changing their daughter’s name to Andromeda Synthesis Story Musk earlier this year. This name, with its cosmic and almost mythical connotations, would have certainly been a conversation starter. In the end, the couple decided against the change, and their daughter continues to be known as Y, or perhaps playfully as “why?” – a choice that aligns with their whimsical approach to naming.
Elon Musk, a billionaire known for his ventures in space exploration and electric vehicles, is also a father to ten children with three different women. Alongside his Grimes’ children, he has twins with Neuralink director Shivon Zilis and five older children from his previous marriage to Justine Musk.
While the reasoning behind Elon Musk and Grimes’ unique baby naming choices may remain a mystery, one thing is clear: they aren’t afraid to think outside the box, even when it comes to something as personal as naming their children.
