Elon Musk Now Wants You To Call A Tweet An ‘X’

Elon Musk Wants You To Call A Tweet An 'X' As Twitter Rebrands

In a surprising move, Twitter has bid farewell to its iconic blue bird logo and is undergoing a significant rebranding to become the “X” app. Not only is the logo getting a makeover, but even the term “tweets” is being replaced by “x’s.”

Sawyer Merritt, who seemingly suggested the new X logo, inquired about the change on Twitter, to which Musk promptly responded, confirming the adoption of “x’s.”

In a series of tweets (or rather, “x’s”) on Sunday, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino unveiled the vision for the expanded app. Describing X as the “future state of unlimited interactivity,” she emphasized its focus on audio, video, messaging, payments, and banking to create a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. The app’s foundation on artificial intelligence is intended to foster connections and interactions beyond what users currently imagine.

Interestingly, the rebranding process has been relatively quiet. The new X logo was projected onto Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters in the middle of the night, marking the beginning of this transformative journey. Musk acknowledged that the logo is a work in progress and will likely undergo refinements in the future.

While the new logo and branding signify a significant shift for Twitter, not all elements have changed. The blue button to make a post still reads “Tweet,” the search bar continues to say “Search Twitter,” and the website URL remains Twitter.com. These elements remind users that the transition to X is a gradual process, and it may take time for “X” and “x’s” to become commonplace in social media.

Twitter’s rebranding signifies a bold step towards Elon Musk’s vision of an all-encompassing “everything app” driven by AI. The transition from tweets to “x’s” and the new logo mark the beginning of a transformative journey for the platform.

While the path to realizing this ambitious vision may be gradual, the future of Twitter as “X” holds the promise of an interconnected global marketplace of ideas, services, and opportunities.
