Elon Musk Is Working On A Gmail Rival Named XMail

Elon Musk, who recently rebranded Twitter to X, is now focused on transforming email as well.
Musk made the news on X when he hinted at the launch of XMail by saying it was “coming” soon. Musk made hints that the service would work in unison with the X app, but he withheld specifics about its features, launch date, and cost. Both Gmail users and computer enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation over this news.

What is intriguing about Musk’s timing is that it occurred not long after a hoax spread over the Internet, alleging that Gmail would be shutting down by August 2024. Although Google repudiated the rumor promptly, emphasizing that Gmail was “here to stay,” many users are still weighing whether they should choose any other email provider rather than XMail.

A subsidiary of X called XMail is one of the many revolutionary features that Musk has introduced on his rebranded social network platform, X. In 2022, Musk took over Twitter and revamped it into his own style, which included renaming it to X. The other recently introduced AI-based technology from Musk is ChatGPT, a conversational AI assistant designed to promote rich interactions. Even though some critics have not fully embraced ChatGPT, Musk’s vision for X goes way beyond a simple email service or an AI assistant as he intends to create an ‘all-in-one app’ named X that provides various online services and activities for its users.

Experts surmise that XMail has the ability to upend the long-dominant Gmail email service market. Gmail has approximately 1.8 billion active users globally, demonstrating its undisputed market domination. But XMail’s compatibility with other X products, its capacity for increased security and personalization, and Musk’s reputation for creativity might make it a strong rival.
Musk and his team will face obstacles in the wake of the excitement around XMail, such as persuading consumers to abandon Gmail, adhering to data protection laws, and competing with other well-known email providers. Nevertheless, many people are excitedly anticipating the official debut of X and XMail due to Musk’s lofty goal for both platforms.
