Elon Musk has apologized to the British diver after calling him ‘Pedo’ on Twitter. The diver took part in the rescue of 12 boys and their coach stuck in Thai cave. Musk apologized to the diver saying that he had “spoken in anger.” Elon Musk’s fans will be happy to see that the famous egoistic entrepreneur did the right thing. However, the search of ‘Musk and Pedo’ will show results on Google for a long time.
Elon Musk told the reporters that he is sorry for the tweets and that the “fault is mine and mine alone.” He said, “His actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that, I apologize.” Musk was enraged when Unsworth was asked about his opinion on Musk’s ‘kid-sized’ submarine in an interview after the rescue operation completion. He said that the sub “had absolutely no chance of working because the inventor had no conception of what the cave passage was like.”
Musk took to Twitter to defend his submarine and criticized Unsworth. He tweeted, “Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it.” After the tweet, he faced a lot of criticism, but he defended and described the visit to Thailand saying, “Never saw this British expat guy who lives in Thailand (sus) at any point when we were in the caves.” He added, “Only people in sight were the Thai navy/army guys, who were great. Thai navy seals escorted us in – the total opposite of wanting us to leave. The water level was actually very low & still (not flowing) – you could literally have swum to Cave 5 with no gear, which is obv how the kids got in”. Musk challenged Unsworth and said, “If not true, then I challenge this dude to show final rescue video.”
Unsworth said that he was “astonished and very angry” at Musk’s attack. He said that he has saved copies of the tweets and is considering to take legal action against Musk. Tesla’s shareholders joined together and demanded Elon Musk to apologize to the diver. James Anderson, Tesla’s fourth-largest shareholder, told that he was disappointed in Musk’s behavior and said, “I intend to convey my – predictable I trust – feelings to the company tomorrow.”
Gene Munster, the head of research at Loup Ventures, wrote an open letter to Musk and asked him to say sorry to the diver. The letter states, “The exchange with Vern Unsworth crossed the line. I suspect you would agree given you deleted the string from Twitter, but it will take more than that to regain investor confidence. Your behavior is fueling an unhelpful perception of your leadership – thin-skinned and short-tempered. Thankfully, the road to regaining investor confidence is well traveled. It starts with an apology.” Musk has used Twitter for both good and bad. However, Munster’s letter suggests that Musk should take a break from Twitter for a while.
